The 2017 Lamborghini Adventador SV Roadster

Updated: Jun 2, 2020

Here it is. Probably the greatest example of Se può essere fatto, sarà fatto (If it can be done, it will be done) straight out of Sant' Agata Bolognese. The Lamborghini Aventador SV in hardtop form is an amazing machine, but really nothing can beat a V-12 behind your head with the wind blowing your hair this side of the Atlantic.

Overview:

The SV Roadster is an emotional beast, and it is one of the most present cars that you can be in or drive. I am also glad to announce, that we have here, one of the highest spec'd examples in the U.S. , and it has some crazy add-ons via Lamborghini's Ad-Personam program and the owner's great taste. For example, Lambo doesn't offer the specific green this SV is painted in matte, so the owner did an Xpel matte film to complete the car's matte theme.

Yes, this is also the car that's on Lambo's official instagram page, it is a pretty recent post too. If that doesn't tell you that this spec is special, then you need to take a factory tour and tell me how many build sheets have as many lines as this one does.

The Archetype and Experience:

This car is a true Weapon at its heart. Yes, it is a comfortable weapon, but would you tell me that a katana with a quilted leather handle is a whittling knife because it's comfy to hold? No, because you use your Jesse James Cutlery set for that. (Not Sponsored by Xpel or JJ Cutlery, but I suppose I wouldn't mind an opportunity in the future). This thing is meant to eat tracks and competitors at the same time, and make you feel like an absolute boss while doing it. The single clutch gearbox along with the removable roof is for a refined and rare breed, the guys who really love the track aspect of a car, but still know how to use it in an orderly fashion for some quality top-down cruising.

Also a perk of being an SV owner is that everywhere becomes a great photo spot, simply because you are there. Photographers who take photos with these beasts are really talented when they find a great spot, because this car's outright presence and look are a lot to handle and an art to match with scenery.

The Exterior:

Ah, I could probably spend a few pages on this, but I'll contain myself and settle for a few paragraphs. The car is super striking just on a proportions scale. The hips on this thing are impossible to miss, and the roofline is unmistakable. The matte film plus the matte carbon all over the car makes all of the angles and lines stand out and really pop in the right light. The car has a really good structural beauty and composition. Even the upper side intakes are a functional piece of geometric art.

The matching calipers set it all off in the best way possible, and the interior components matching them makes this thing a masterclass in style. Even the front carbon intakes are in matte on this car, and damn do they look good.

The Interior:

It really strikes you as soon as you peek into the SV's cockpit that this thing is a tool that is designed for maximum use, not maximum efficiency. The seats are really bolstered in a way that lets you know you're there and you are a quintessential part of driving the car. The interior is good size for even my 6'3" frame, and it uses its roadster capability to not make a taller occupant feel like he's in a V-12 child's car. This car also has really easy and very Lamborghini interior buttons and functions, which is fun for everyone (except for the valet that claims his dad had one but seemingly can't find the door button or reverse).

The Options:

The entire car has been tweaked by Ad Personam in some way, shape, or form through extensive matte carbon touches, and matching paint schemes. The craziest option on this car, in my opinion, is the SV logo in carbon fiber on the rear quarter panels. It's actually a full carbon quarter panel and it is a 25k+ option, and is rarely ever seen on any Lambo, much less the SV Roadster.

Also another crazy option is the lambo factory race exhaust plus a race tune, which was discontinued due to certain circumstances in the EU. This unit makes the already healthy 740-whp V-12 get F-16 jet fighter loud and makes 820 (est.) whp! Safe to say if you have this rarely seen or heard of option on your one-of-500 roadster, you will make the famous F1 tunnel in Monaco sound just that much better while on holiday. This is also the only car to be spec'd with a full matte carbon interior, as you saw in the interior shots above, it looks like a one-of-one custom from first glance.

The Power:

Ah yes, there it is. Your carriage pulled by 740 (actually ~820 in this case) purebred Italian horses is at the front door ready to receive you. As elegant as this car is, it turns into a focused cruise missile if you so much as look at this thing's gas pedal the wrong way. But it's the friendly kind of cruise missile, it seems to do everything under control until you really let it rip, and then you get that sweaty-hands-on-alcantara feel halfway through 5th gear while passing that 430 Scuderia like it's standing still.

And now, beautiful V-12 sounds of this car, because Lambo.

Should you buy one?

If you read until the third line, you have already made that decision yourself! Now all you have to do is get in one or drive one, trust me you'll be hooked after that first experience. The feel is intoxicating, and you'll smile just a little remembering the first time you heard the sound of 7500 rpm with the top down. Right now, you can pick up a decently optioned example for around $480,000 and it can fluctuate due to options and miles from there. But seriously, if the opportunity arises to buy one take that opportunity, you'll be able to have a life experience that few are lucky to have.

.

I truly enjoyed this one, and I hope to do another one soon!

Hope you guys are staying safe and doing well,

The Supercar Ambassador
